DCS Earns Software Community Partner Designation with MSC Software

DCS has joined MSC Software’s Technology Partner Program as an official Software Community Partner of MSC Software, provider of MSC Nastran and a wide range of other products used in virtual prototyping and design.

First developed for NASA, MSC Nastran has become the leading finite element analysis (FEA) tool used by the world’s top manufacturers. As a Software Community Partner, DCS’s flagship dimensional analysis product, 3DCS, which features built-in FEA functionality, will directly align with MSC Nastran and other MSC solutions, allowing for an efficient workflow and greater overall compatibility.

“This partnership signals a closer development relationship that will bring about continued benefits for product & process engineers, and demonstrates the vital role DCS software plays in manufacturing across all industries,” said DCS Vice President of Sales Don Jasurda.

One immediate benefit from this partnership will be the ability for 3DCS users to seamlessly pull FEA mesh files from MSC Software tools into 3DCS, removing the need for multistep workflows. This will give 3DCS users a smooth process of adding Finite Element Analysis to their 3DCS models, enabling flexible materials and process deformation in their variation analysis.

As the partnership continues, customers can expect to see additional developments to streamline FEA and variation analysis, making it easier for new users to adopt 3DCS FEA Compliant Modeler. With plans for incorporating thermal effects from processes like welding, as well as environmental factors such as expansion, DCS looks forward to advancing the synergy between these two software suites.
