Evidera and Symphony Technology Group Announce Appointment of Simon Kennedy to Senior Leadership Roles

Evidera, a leading provider of evidence-based solutions for the healthcare industry, and Symphony Technology Group (STG), a strategic private equity firm, today announced that Simon Kennedy has joined Evidera as executive chairman of the board, effective January 1. In this position, he plays a leadership role in defining Evidera’s acquisition, new product development and overall growth strategies, working closely with Evidera’s management team. Kennedy has also joined STG as healthcare operations partner, and another portfolio company, Symphony Health Solutions, as a member of the board of directors.

STG, founded in 2002, has raised $2 billion in equity capital and has a demonstrated track record of leveraging its operational expertise and commitment to innovation to transform midsize enterprise technology and services companies. Across all three roles, Kennedy’s focus will be on finding innovative ways to leverage information and analytics to deliver real, measurable value to healthcare companies. He will build on both the powerful combination of assets and capabilities Evidera and SHS already possess and leverage STG as a rich investment platform for creating new capabilities, both through organic investment and acquisition.
“I’m tremendously excited about the potential for STG and our portfolio of companies to play a significant role in the transformation of the global healthcare system,” said Kennedy. “We believe we have the opportunity to help create a system that is more efficient, effective and equitable as the result of applying complex analytics to new and emerging sources of data.”
Kennedy was most recently a senior partner and managing director at the Boston Consulting Group (www.BCG.com) where he was the founder and global leader of the firm’s health care information technology (HCIT) practice, a member of the committee responsible for BCG’s Value Based Healthcare investments and research and responsible for leading projects across the entire healthcare value chain. Prior to BCG, Kennedy was a principal at Booz, Allen & Hamilton, a lecturer at the University of Cape Town, in South Africa, co-founder of boutique strategy consulting firm Strategy*Partners and a senior consultant in the Software Engineering Support Group at Price Waterhouse.
